Description

A coal-mine office gate at Singrauli has the eSSL AiFace Mars biometric attendance machine mounted on a column near the staff entry. The install looked fine on day one; eighteen months later, the cable run from the device to the LAN switch behind the wall is held in place with three different colours of insulation tape, the power lead loops down past head height, and the mine’s HSE inspector has started writing comments about “trailing wiring” on the floor walk. This powder-coated duct plate ends that conversation in a single afternoon.

Why a face-terminal install needs a duct plate, not improvised tape

The AiFace Mars is supposed to look like a deliberate piece of infrastructure, not a temporary fix. Cables routed across painted walls accumulate visual clutter every site walk, and on a mine office gate the HSE notes pile up. A flat steel duct plate behind the device gives the cabling a single clean run hidden inside a powder-coated channel — the device sits flush against the wall, the cables exit the duct plate where they should, and the column looks intentional again.

The build, in plain language

Cold-rolled mild steel, single-piece duct plate, powder-coated matte black for a finish that matches the AiFace Mars body. Sized to sit behind the device, hiding the power, LAN and any USB cable run. Made in India by AmpleTrails. The same duct plate works behind the eSSL AiFace Eris and the Biomax SpeedFace SE since those devices share similar mounting footprints.

Dimensions designed, not guessed

The duct plate is cut so the AiFace Mars sits flat against it, with the device’s rear-cable run hidden inside the duct channel. Mounting holes are positioned to align with the device’s wall-mount bracket; no improvised drilling. The whole assembly looks like one continuous piece of wall-mounted hardware.

Mounting

Standard 8mm wall-anchor positions on the duct plate accept rawl plugs for brick, block-work or column. Mount the duct plate first, route the cables behind it, then bring the AiFace Mars onto its bracket over the plate. The cable exit is at the bottom of the duct — clean, predictable.

What buyers usually ask before ordering

Is this a metal enclosure?
No — it’s a duct plate. The AiFace Mars mounts on top of the plate; the cables hide behind. It does not have a lockable front or a Mini UPS bay.

Is the eSSL AiFace Mars included with the duct plate?
No — the listing is for the duct plate only. The AiFace Mars and any Mini UPS for it are sold separately.

Will the duct plate fit the AiFace Eris too?
Yes — the AiFace Eris shares a similar mounting footprint, so the same duct plate works. The Biomax SpeedFace SE also fits.

What thickness can the duct channel handle?
Sized for standard CAT6 LAN, 230V power lead and a USB run together. For multi-cable bundled runs, plan the routing before fixing the plate.

Made in India?
Yes. Fabricated and powder-coated in India by AmpleTrails. Same supply chain as our metal enclosure range.
